Introducing
Beginner Stained Glass Classes in Boulder, CO
New to stained glass?
You're in exactly the right place!
Every beginner class here at Colorado Glass Works happens in small groups right on Pearl Street in Boulder, taught by working studio artists (that's us). No experience, no supplies, no skills required, just show up curious. You'll learn the whole copper foil process: cutting glass, grinding your edges smooth, wrapping everything in copper foil, and soldering it all together. Every single class sends you home with a real, finished piece you made yourself.
Not sure which class fits your schedule? We've got a single afternoon (1-Day), a relaxed weekend (2-Day), a full month to really dig in (4-Week), or a pre-cut option if you want to skip straight to the fun stuff: foiling and soldering (Make & Take). Planning a date night, birthday, or gift experience instead?

Beginner Class Information
Date Night Stained Glass Class
Skip the usual dinner and a movie, and make something you'll actually treasure together! Our Date Night class is a favorite for couples who want a Boulder night out that's a little different. You and your partner each build your own handmade stained glass piece, with plenty of guidance (and laughs) along the way. No experience needed, we'll teach you to foil and solder from scratch. It's become the go-to pick for anniversaries, birthdays, or just a fun new thing to try together.
1-Day Beginner Stained Glass Class
Want to try stained glass without committing a whole month? This one's for you. In just one 4-hour afternoon at our Pearl Street studio, you'll go through the full copper foil process: pattern layout, cutting, grinding, foiling, and soldering, and walk out with a handmade suncatcher you made with your own two hands. No experience needed, we'll walk you through every step in a small group, and all your tools and materials are covered.
2-Day Beginner Stained Glass Class
If you'd rather take your time, our 2-day beginner workshop covers the same ground as the 1-day class (cutting, grinding, foiling, soldering) but gives you a little more breathing room to practice and get a bit more ambitious with your design. Two sessions means you can really settle into each step. You'll leave with a finished piece and the confidence to keep going on your own. No experience required, all skill levels welcome!
4-Week Beginner Stained Glass
This is our deepest dive into stained glass, and honestly, it's where we see people really fall in love with the craft. Over four weekly sessions, an experienced instructor walks you through every step of the copper foil method at a pace that actually lets it sink in: reading a pattern, cutting, grinding, foiling, soldering, finishing. Weekly classes mean you get more one-on-one time than any single-day class, and your skills genuinely build week to week. By the end, you'll have a finished project and the confidence to start your next one solo.
Make & Take Pre-Cut Suncatcher Workshop
Want the quickest, easiest way in? The glass is already pre-cut for you here, just pick a pattern, then learn to grind, foil, and solder your pieces into a finished suncatcher to take home the same day. It's relaxed, beginner-friendly, and honestly a really fun outing with friends if you're not ready to tackle cutting glass yourself just yet.
