Our Classes, Explained

Beginner Classes

Date Night Stained Glass Class

Try something different from the usual dinner and a movie, and make something you'll treasure. Our Date Night Stained Glass Class offers a unique Boulder experience where you and your partner each create a handmade stained glass piece. You'll get plenty of guidance, enjoy good company, and share some laughs along the way. No experience is needed; we teach you how to foil, and solder from the beginning. It's a creative, hands-on evening on Pearl Street that ends with a piece of art and a special memory. This class is popular for anniversaries, birthdays, and anyone looking for a fun, new experience.

1-Day Beginner Stained Glass Class

Try stained glass in just one afternoon at our Pearl Street studio in Boulder. In this 4-hour beginner class, you'll learn the full copper foil process: pattern layout, glass cutting, grinding, foiling, and soldering. You'll leave with a handmade suncatcher you created yourself. No experience is needed, our instructors guide small groups step by step, and we provide all tools and materials! This class is great for anyone curious about stained glass but not ready for a multi-week commitment.

2-Day Beginner Stained Glass Class

If you want more time to learn each skill, our 2-day beginner stained glass workshop is a great choice. It covers the same process as the 1-day class: cutting, grinding, copper foiling, and soldering, but gives you extra time to practice and work on a more detailed design. With two sessions, you can take your time and build confidence with every step. You'll finish with a handmade stained glass piece and the basic skills to keep creating on your own. All skill levels are welcome, and no experience is required.

4-Week Beginner Stained Glass

This is our most in-depth introduction to stained glass. Over four weekly sessions at our Boulder studio, an experienced instructor will guide you through every step of the copper foil method at a relaxed pace. You'll learn how to read and cut a pattern, grind, foil, solder, and finish your piece. Weekly classes let your skills grow between sessions, and you'll get more one-on-one instruction than in a single-day class. By the end, you'll have a finished stained glass project and the confidence to start your next one on your own. This class is perfect for anyone who wants to really learn the craft.

Make & Take Pre-Cut Suncatcher Workshop

This is the quickest and easiest way to try stained glass. In our make-and-take workshop, the glass is already pre-cut for you. You pick a pattern, then learn how to grind, copper foil, and solder your pieces into a finished suncatcher to take home that day. It's beginner-friendly, relaxed, and perfect for anyone who wants to experience making stained glass without learning to cut glass first. It's a great introduction to the hobby, a fun outing with friends, or a unique gift experience.

Intermediate & Advances Classes

1-Day Intermediate Stained Glass Class

If you've already taken a beginner class, this 4-hour intermediate workshop is the perfect next step. You'll build on the basics and try more challenging cuts and techniques with help from your instructor. This class is for students who have completed a beginner stained glass class, either here or somewhere else, and want more practice before working on their own. Small class sizes mean you'll get lots of personal feedback on your cutting, foiling, and soldering skills.

4-Week Advanced Stained Glass Class (Copper Foil)

Do you have a project idea but aren't sure how to make it happen? Our 4-week advanced class gives intermediate students studio time and expert help to work on a copper foil project of their choice. Bring your idea; whether it's a window panel, a detailed suncatcher, or a gift. We'll help you design it, create a pattern, and solve any problems along the way. This class helps you move from following patterns to creating your own designs.

4-Week Leaded Stained Glass Method Class

Learn stained glass the traditional way, just as it's been done for centuries. In this 4-week class, intermediate students will learn the leaded stained glass method, which uses lead came instead of copper foil. You'll practice stretching and cutting came, assembling a leaded panel, soldering joints, and cementing your finished piece for strength and durability. This technique is used in classic church and architectural windows and allows you to create larger, more structural pieces. Prior stained glass experience is required.

Make Your Own Stained Glass Window

This is our most ambitious class. In this 4-week immersive course, you'll learn everything you need to design and build your own stained glass window, a piece you will treasure for years. Our instructors will guide you from the first idea to the finished window. You'll create a pattern, choose glass from our large in-studio collection, and build a window you'll be proud to display. This class is a favorite for students who want to make something truly special and lasting.

Skill-Building Intensive Classes

Glass Cutting Intensive Workshop

Cutting is the key skill in stained glass, and it's often the hardest for beginners. This focused intensive is all about cutting: you'll practice scoring, breaking glass cleanly, handling curves and tricky inside cuts, and building the muscle memory that makes future projects easier. It's perfect for beginners who want to improve their cutting or self-taught makers who want to fix bad habits. You'll leave with more control and confidence at the cutting table.

Soldering Intensive Workshop

Clean, smooth solder lines make the difference between homemade and professional-looking stained glass. This soldering intensive focuses only on soldering: you'll learn about iron temperature and control, using flux, tinning, making smooth seams, and fixing common problems like lumpy or uneven lines. It's ideal for beginners who want to improve the finish of their work. Bring your questions, this is the class where soldering will finally start to make sense!

Decorative Additions Intensive Workshop

Go beyond basic patterns with this intensive. You'll learn decorative techniques that add personality and polish to your stained glass, the kinds of details that make people ask, “how did you do that?” This class is perfect for beginners who already know the basics and want to add new creative skills you won't find in a standard class.

Framing Intensive Workshop

If you've finished a beautiful panel, now it's time to frame it the right way. This intensive teaches you how to frame your stained glass so it hangs securely and looks professional. You'll learn about framing options, reinforcement, hanging hardware, and finishing touches. It's a practical class for anyone with finished pieces ready to display on a wall or in a window.

Digital Pattern Design Using Procreate

Learn to design stained glass patterns the way modern studios do. In this class, you'll use Procreate on an iPad to draw and refine your patterns digitally, then use a Cricut to bring them to life. Digital design makes it much easier to change, resize, and reuse patterns, and lets you try custom work you might not attempt by hand. This class is great for makers who want to create their own designs instead of using store-bought patterns.
